Burke County Animal Shelter Closed for Repairs
Due to repairs, the Burke County Animal Shelter (Animal Services Center) located at 425 Kirksey Drive in Morganton will not be able to accept owner surrendered animals August 17 – September 2. In addition, the shelter will be closed August 26 – September 2, 2019. We’ll reopen at 8 am on September 3, 2019.
The following local rescue agencies may be able to accept owner surrendered animals: A Better Life Animal Rescue, The Cats’ Cradle, Hartman’s Haven Dog Rescue, Mercy Fund Animal Rescue, Partners for Cats, Rusty’s Legacy and Burke Friends for Animals.
For dog bites / rabies or to report animal abuse or neglect, please contact the Sheriff’s Office / Animal Control at 828-764-9512.
