Burke County’s Response to COVID-19

• Burke County is currently at 9450 positive cases. These are cumulative cases for the county. If you want to see a breakdown of the cases, please go visit the https://www.burkenc.org/dashboard webpage

• Para español llame al 764-9150 y presione el número dos. Si nadie contesta deje un corto mensaje con su nombre y numero de teléfono.

Everyone 65+ interested in scheduling an appointment will need to call the Community Call Center at 358-4454 and keep calling until you get through to make an appointment.

Beginning Wednesday, the State will be moving into a modified Phase 3 giving priority to the educators/childcare personnel with the schools. The Burke County Vaccination Team is working together with the Burke County Public Schools and other Pre-K through 12th school systems and childcare centers/homes to begin vaccinating this portion of Group 3.

Beginning March 10, the State will move into priority group 3 which is the frontline essential workers by State mandated definition.

We are asking that everyone please be patient and understand that everyone who wishes to receive a vaccine will eventually get one, but it will not happen in a couple weeks. There is more demand for the vaccine than there is supply to anywhere in the State or nation.

If you want your concern and voices to be heard, then you will need to contact Governor Cooper at 919-716-6400 and Dr. Mandy Cohen at NC Department of Health and Human Services at 919-855-4820. They are the only ones that can help get more vaccine in to NC and Burke County.

Even though you receive the COVID-19 vaccine, you will still need to practice the 3 W’s prevention for a while until more people receive the vaccine.

We appreciate your patience as we try to vaccinate those eligible and interested as fast as possible.
