From Burke County Health Department:
**We are six months into this pandemic and the State is trying to reopen businesses and return to some type of normal but we will not be able to keep things open if residents who are sick continue to go out into the county and pass COVID-19 along with other infections. IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT FOR THOSE WHO ARE SICK WITH ANY INFECTION INCLUDING COVID-19, THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN IN CLOSE CONTACT WITH SOMEONE WHO IS COVID-19 POSITIVE OR ANYONE WHO HAS BEEN TESTED FOR COVID-19 AND WAITING ON TEST RESULTS TO STAY AT HOME AND NOT BE AROUND OTHER PEOPLE FOR ANY REASON.**
Those who are sick staying at home plus everyone wearing face coverings and washing your hands often will slow the spread of this infection within our community. We are asking everyone to do their part whether they believe in this infection or not so others will not get sick.
Flu Shot Drive Thru Clinic Reminder:
Due to a limited supply of flu shots, the health department will be giving flu shots as long as they last but will not be giving any flu shots inside the building at any time.
The health department will be hosting drive thru Flu Shot Clinics at their location; 700 East Parker Road, Morganton on the following days and times:
1) Thursday, October 8, 2020 from 3pm – 6pm
Appointments are preferred but drive ins are welcome. Please bring your Medicaid and/or Medicare Part B or Blue Cross/Blue Shield cards with you to the clinic. If you do not have these types of insurance, the cost of the flu shot is $30.00.
You can download the flu shot paperwork to complete and bring with you or you can complete the paperwork at the health department while in line. You can access the Flu
Shot Consent Form on the health department’s main page at www.burkenc.org/1221/health-department The link will be listed as Flu Consent Form 2020 and just click on that link to be able to print the form, complete and bring with you.
If you are calling just to make an appointment for COVID-19 testing, please call 828-764-9150. If you are getting a test for COVID-19, it is extremely important to give correct names (what name is on your birth certificate, not names you go by) and addresses so positive numbers can be directed and counted in the correct county. This helps to keep the data more accurate for each county.
If you have any further questions or need additional information, contact the Burke County Public Information Line at 828-764-9168, Monday – Friday from 8am – 5pm. After hours, weekends and holidays, please leave a message and your call will be answered as soon as staff returns. Or you can also visit the Burke County COVID-19 webpage at www.burkenc.org/COVID-19.
