The Burke County Commissioners and Management team remains committed to providing an open, transparent public process even amidst the challenges we face due to the local and global health pandemic, COVID-19. The Board of Commissioners and county staff are working diligently to ensure operational continuity in these challenging and uncertain times.
For everyone’s safety and compliance with the Governor’s Executive Orders, the April 7th meetings (pre-agenda at 3:00 p.m. and special meeting at 4:00 p.m.) will be held through a virtual platform called CISCO Webex and all the meeting participants (Commissioners, County Manager, County Attorney, Clerk, Department Heads and others) will participate in the meeting electronically. County personnel and others using the virtual platform will be able to see and hear one another in real time. County personnel and others participating in the meeting by telephone will only be able to hear. Again, for safety and compliance reasons, the Commissioners’ Meeting Room in Morganton will not be open.
Citizens may watch and/or listen to the pre-agenda and special virtual meetings by:
- Joining the Webex platform by computer or telephone (contact Kay Draughn, Clerk to the Board, at 828.764.9354 or kay.draughn@burkenc.org for connection credentials by 1 p.m. on April 6, 2020 – first come first served); or
- Watching the live stream on the County’s YouTube Channel, Burke County Government; or
- Watching the recorded meeting on COMPAS Cable Channel 2 and Spectrum Cable Channel 192.
Citizens that have not used CISCO Webex before are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the product prior to April 7th. For more information, use the following link: https://help.webex.com/en-us/n62wi3c/Get-Started-with-Cisco-Webex-Meetings-for-Attendees
