[ARCHIVED] Helpline for Coronavirus (COVID-19)

As questions and concerns about coronavirus (COVID-19) increase across North Carolina, we’d like to encourage promotion of the statewide Coronavirus Helpline for the public, which is answered 24 hours a day/7 days a week.

The phone number to the Coronavirus Helpline is 1-866-462-3821.

The line, which was established by the NC Division of Public Health, is staffed by North Carolina Poison Control’s nurses and pharmacists who are backed by clinical and medical toxicologists and who have been trained in responding with up-to-date information to a host of questions about coronavirus.

The medical guidelines we use to assess and manage coronavirus exposures were developed according to CDC protocols in conjunction with the heads of the NC DHHS Epidemiology, Communicable Disease, and Preparedness branches. We work directly with state epidemiologists to ensure any patient of concern is evaluated.

One centralized number means a better coronavirus surveillance picture for the state and consistent treatment protocols for patients. Having one number can also reduce the burden of calls to individual health departments, and it provides one streamlined message for the public.
