Members
The Social Services Board consists of 5 members. Two members are appointed by the Board of Commissioners, two are State Commission of Social Services appointees, and one is a Social Service Board appointee. Appointments are for three-year terms but members shall not serve more than two consecutive terms.
Purpose
The purpose of the Board of Social Services is to select the County Director of Social Services. They also advise county and municipal authorities in developing policies and plans to improve the social conditions of the community. They consult with the Director of Social Services to solve problems and to plan the budgets for the County Department of Social Services.
They also have other duties and responsibilities as the General Assembly, the Department of Human Resources, the Social Services Commission, or the Board of Commissioners may assign to it.
