Overview
The Burke County Board of Adjustment consists of 7 members, appointed by the Board of Commissioners.
Subsequent appointments shall be for terms of three years each. Members can be reappointed to succeed themselves but may not serve more than two consecutive terms. Members shall be residents of the County.
This board meets on the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 6 PM.
Purpose
The Board of Adjustment is advisory in nature and makes recommendations to the Board of Commissioners.
Duties
The Board of Adjustment shall have the following duties and powers:
- Hear and decide appeals of planning administrator interpretations.
- Hear and decide Conditional Use Permit applications.
- Hear and decide requests for Variances from the Zoning Ordinance.
