Adult Care & Nursing Home Community Advisory Committeeshttps://intranet.burkenc.org/WebsiteContent/Lists/Home Page News/DispForm.aspx?ID=81Adult Care & Nursing Home Community Advisory Committees<p>​<span aria-hidden="true"></span>​Applications are being accepted for the Adult Care Home Community Care Advisory Committee and the Nursing Home Care Community Advisory Committee.  These committees serve residents of long-term care facilities within the county and have legislative authority to monitor the Residents' Bill of Rights, promote community involvement in the homes, provide public education on long-term care issues, assist residents in grievance resolution and promote elder abuse awareness.  (G.S. 131D-31, G.S. 131E-128)   Training and in-facility orientation is required and provided by the Regional Ombudsman.  Committee activities involve approximately 8 hours' time per month.  Please contact the Clerk to the Board at 764-9354 or the Regional Ombudsman at 485-4213 for more information or to obtain an application.  Applications may also be found at <a href="http://www.burkenc.org/"><span lang="EN" style="text-decoration:underline;">www.burkenc.org</span></a>.<span aria-hidden="true"></span></p>

Comment Period and Hearing for Catawba River (Lake James) Proposed Reclassificationhttps://intranet.burkenc.org/WebsiteContent/Lists/Home Page News/DispForm.aspx?ID=89Comment Period and Hearing for Catawba River (Lake James) Proposed Reclassification<p>​<span aria-hidden="true"></span>McDowell County has requested that a Catawba River segment, including Lake James, in McDowell and Burke Counties (Catawba River Basin) be reclassified for a water supply. These waters are proposed to be reclassified to the Class Water Supply-IV (WS-IV) classification, including the Critical Area (CA) and Protected Area (PA) designations. This reclassification is needed to construct a new water supply intake in Lake James that McDowell County intends to use. A public hearing is going to be conducted in order to receive public comments on the proposed reclassification and associated fiscal note.</p>

 

 

Notice Of Public Hearinghttps://intranet.burkenc.org/WebsiteContent/Lists/Special Notice/DispForm.aspx?ID=132Notice Of Public Hearing<p>​Notice is hereby given that the Burke County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing at 6:00 p.m. (or as soon thereafter as persons may be heard) on Tuesday, December 20, 2016, in the County Board Room, Burke County Services Building, 110 North Green Street, Entrance E, Morganton, NC for the purpose of giving consideration to and approving the expenditure of public funds to assist with the expansion of Molded Fiber Glass located at 213 Reep Drive in Morganton. The assistance includes an economic development grant equal to 50% of the increased taxes paid by the company on an $8 million +/- investment for a period of three (3) years and the creation of 20 additional jobs over the same 3-year period. The Board of Commissioners believe the project will stimulate economic activity, will result in the creation of additional jobs, help stabilize and increase the tax base and create additional revenues in the County. If reasonable accommodations are needed to participate, please contact the Clerk at 828-764-9350 at least 48 hours prior to the public hearing. </p>

Programs must have a SPEP service type, an "evidence based" model or a service requested by the DACJJ. Program must have an evaluation component which can demonstrate impact on the risk factors below. Approximately $230,294 will be available [dependent on availability of funds] for July1-June 30, Fiscal Year 2017/18.
